BREAKING🚨 Pete Hegseth just pushed a debunked “troops at polling places” story to Congress under oath.
In House testimony, Hegseth claimed that in 2024, under Biden, troops were deployed to polling locations in 15 states — then repeated it for emphasis, as if he’d uncovered a scandal. But officials in the states he cited say the same thing: it didn’t happen.
State Guard spokespeople from places like Iowa, Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, West Virginia, Delaware, Illinois, New Mexico, and Oregon all said they had no troops at polling places, no such orders, and in some cases no activation at all. One even pointed out that their state runs elections entirely by mail, making the claim ridiculous on its face.
Hegseth then showed up in the Senate and doubled down after being challenged, repeating the same false claim under oath instead of correcting the record. That’s not a slip-up — that’s a choice.
Here’s the kicker: the last time Guard troops actually helped at some polling sites was in 2020, under Trump, when COVID sidelined election workers. Hegseth either can’t keep the timeline straight or is lying to smear Biden.
Lying to Congress is a felony. It’s called perjury, and it carries up to five years in prison and hefty fines. Hegseth didn’t just misremember a date — he made a sweeping, demonstrably false accusation about federal troops and elections. Twice. Under oath.
