Meghan Markle’s Next Move Has Nothing to Do With Royal Duties — And It Could Take Her Thousands of Miles Away

Meghan Markle appears to be continuing her journey beyond traditional royal life, and her latest career announcement is already attracting attention.

The Duchess of Sussex has confirmed that she will join the upcoming season of Junior MasterChef Australia, marking another television appearance as she continues developing her interests in entertainment, lifestyle and business.

The announcement, made on October 27 by production company Endemol Shine Australia, revealed that Meghan will join Australian chef and television personality Poh Ling Yeow for the programme’s return in 2027.

But there is one detail that makes this development particularly interesting: the project will take Meghan back to Australia, where she previously appeared as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia.

A Different Direction for the Duchess

Meghan’s relationship with television began long before she became a member of the British Royal Family.

Her acting career, particularly her role in the legal drama Suits, introduced her to an international audience.

However, since stepping away from official royal duties alongside Prince Harry in 2020, she has gradually returned to entertainment through different projects.

Her Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, explored cooking, hosting, home decoration and everyday living.

Now, her involvement with Junior MasterChef Australia suggests that cooking and lifestyle entertainment remain important parts of her professional direction.

In her statement announcing the new role, Meghan expressed excitement about returning to the programme and working with young contestants.

She also mentioned her enjoyment of cooking with her own children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Why Australia Is Back in the Picture

Meghan’s previous appearance on MasterChef Australia attracted considerable attention.

According to the production company, that appearance helped the programme achieve its largest Sunday audience since 2023.

Her return for the junior version of the competition therefore represents an opportunity to build on an already successful television appearance.

Filming is expected to take place in Melbourne over several weeks in 2027.

This has naturally raised questions about whether Prince Harry and their children could accompany her during the trip.

However, there has been no official confirmation of the family’s travel arrangements.

Is Meghan Building a New Identity Outside the Monarchy?

For years, public attention surrounding Meghan has frequently centred on her relationship with the Royal Family, her departure from royal duties and her relationship with other senior royals.

But her latest television announcement offers a different subject.

Rather than another royal engagement or discussion about palace relations, Meghan is returning to a familiar professional environment.

Her television projects, lifestyle brand As Ever and other commercial interests indicate that she continues to explore opportunities beyond the traditional expectations associated with being a duchess.

Whether this becomes a larger entertainment career remains to be seen.

One question, however, is difficult to ignore: could Australia become an increasingly important part of Meghan’s professional future?
