A recent controversy involving Meghan Markle might be exactly what the royal family needs to bail on the Sussexes.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield recently spoke with Page Six and claimed that the disturbing allegations against Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle Sr., “may give King Charles III the ammunition to take a firmer stance in distancing the monarchy from Harry and Meghan.”
“The Sussexes are private citizens, and perhaps it’s time the Palace made that separation unmistakably clear,” Schofield said, insisting that the royals shouldn’t be forced to keep “absorbing the reputational fallout” from outside conflicts.

She added that Buckingham Palace likely won’t “dignify this story with a response,” saying that the “allegations concern private individuals, and the royal family has no responsibility to defend or explain their behavior.”
A palace source agreed, telling Page Six the situation is “a matter for the Sussex Household.”
Schofield then noted that Charles and the rest of the royal family is already facing “reputational consequences” over the disgraced ex-Prince Andrew’s connection to the late predator Jeffrey Epstein.
“The last thing it needs is another uncomfortable controversy involving people connected to the royal family,” she continued. “This isn’t the Palace’s mess, but unfortunately, the royal connection ensures it becomes part of the conversation.”
On Thursday, October 22, The Sun reported that Meghan’s dad has been accused of having “hundreds, if not thousands” of child sexual abuse images in his home.
Markle Sr.’s son and Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr., reportedly found the material and reached out to the authorities. “His desktop was full of row-upon-row of thumbnail pictures linking to the most sickening child abuse imaginable. The worst of the worst,” Markle Jr. told a friend via The Sun.
He later told the outlet that he had “no option but to report my dad. I have supported, cared for him and helped him for years — but that stops now. I won’t speak to my father ever again unless I’m called to give evidence against him.”
Meghan addressed the allegations in a statement, revealing that she’s “deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed.”
“In 2018, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and Royalty and Specialist Protection. That letter was subsequently shared with me,” the statement read. “It made troubling and disturbing allegations against my father and I was given assurances that these were being investigated.”
It added, “I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications’ distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them.”
“I trusted that the authorities were doing the same for other families,” Meghan stated. “Although the breadth of what has now been uncovered is more sickening than one could ever imagine, my sincerest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the priority remains the safety and protection of innocent children.”
Markle Sr. denied the allegations. “I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me,” he told The Daily Mail. “I could never do what I’m being accused of. It’s the worst thing anyone could accuse me of. This is bulls–t. It’s just a bunch of lies. It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies.”
