Speaking with visible intensity, Taylor didn’t hold back as she addressed what she described as a growing climate of fear and injustice affecting communities across the country — a moment that shifted the room from celebration to silence.

“We’re seeing our neighbors being k.i.d.n.a.p.p.e.d, peaceful protesters being a.s.s.a.u.l.t.e.d and k.i.l.l.e.d, our civil rights being stripped away. It’s become painfully clear that protecting our planet and our communities is not a priority for this administration. And it’s incredibly difficult to celebrate moments like this when so many of us no longer feel safe in our own homes or on our streets.”

She continued, explaining why she felt compelled to speak out:

“It’s very clear that safeguarding our environment and the people who live in it is not where this administration’s priorities lie. And it’s hard to celebrate anything under those conditions.
